The problem is that the line is really long and the cookies are expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, J and I have been making our own versions of these cookies! There are a lot of copycat recipes online. This is the result of combining a few of them. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.browneyedbaker.com\/levain-bakery-chocolate-chip-cookies\/\">Brown-Eyed Baker<\/a> one was a major contributor, but doesn&#8217;t have enough walnuts or chocolate chips in it and mysteriously calls for baking soda despite no acid in the other ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"929\" height=\"697\" src=\"https:\/\/beansproutadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/IMG_20190311_215040.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1959\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beansproutadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/IMG_20190311_215040.jpg 929w, https:\/\/beansproutadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/IMG_20190311_215040-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/beansproutadventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/IMG_20190311_215040-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chocolate chip walnut cookies<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>3 cups flour<\/li><li>1 tsp cornstarch (or other refined cooking starch)<\/li><li>1 tsp baking powder<\/li><li>1\/4 tsp baking soda<\/li><li>3\/4 tsp salt<\/li><li>1 cup butter<\/li><li>3\/4-1 cup brown sugar<\/li><li>1\/2 cup white sugar<\/li><li>2 eggs<\/li><li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li><li>2 cups chocolate chips<\/li><li>2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.<\/li><li>Mix the dry ingredients. Add to the butter-sugar mixture. Add the chocolate chips and walnuts.<\/li><li>Bake cookies 10 min at 375\u00b0F (small cookies will be done, large cookies will be gooey).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Substitutions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The sugar together with the chocolate chips can make the cookies too sweet. You might consider reducing the amount of sugar in subsequent batches.<\/li><li>But don&#8217;t reduce the sugar if leaving out the chocolate chips.<\/li><li>Try leaving out the baking soda or powder. Another recipe we used <em>only<\/em> called for soda, which seems wrong.<\/li><li>Type of flour called for also varies by recipe.
